GDPR
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a legal framework that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information of individuals within the European Union (EU). The GDPR sets out the principles of data management and the rights of an individual, while also imposing fines that can be revenue-based. The GDPR covers all companies that deal with data of EU citizens, so it is a critical regulation for corporate compliance officers at banks, insurers, and other financial companies. GDPR came into effect across the US on May 25, 2018.
Since WELD uses a third party provider (YM), we have made sure that our provider is compliant with the GDPR regulation. Our provider has made the following adjustments. We can enable these features.
User Consent
A new feature is available allowing us to unequivocally capture consent from member and non-member users, allowing us to collect and process their personal data. If enabled, users must provide consent before entering information in any of the feature areas where personal data may be collected. Examples of these feature areas are new member signup, event registration, form submission and commerce checkout, among others. The date and and time in which the user consented will also be captured and visible to administrators. WELD has implemented this new feature.
Cookie Notice
An update to this existing feature allows customers to display a more prominent warning/overlay on the frontend of their website, notifying members and site visitors the website need to utilize browser cookies to function. WELD has implemented this feature.
Privacy Policy Statement
A new interface is available allowing us to explicitly input our organization's privacy policies. If enabled, we can link to this privacy statement page from anywhere on our website and include it on areas where user consent is required. WELD has implemented this feature.
Request for Data and Anonymization
New tools have been implemented allowing administrators to obtain all member-related personal data, if the request is given that by member. In addition, the ability to anonymize a member record will be available, if such a request is made. WELD will be able to grant anonymity, and we will also be able to give them their data upon request.
