Thriving Communities |
Women reinvest their resources into families and communities. Studies show that women reinvest their earnings into families and communities at higher rates than men do. According to studies done by Catalyst and Harvard Business School, companies with more women in top leadership donate at substantially greater levels to the community than those with fewer women leaders. Research performed by US Aid From The American People shows that “a woman multiplies the impact of an investment made in her future by extending benefits to the world around her, creating a better life for her family and building a strong community.” This research also uncovered that “countries where women’s share of seats in political bodies is greater than 30% are more inclusive, egalitarian, and democratic.” Investing in women fuels our economy and this strengthens our communities. It is one of the best levers to alleviate poverty and have healthier families. Women prioritize their resources to strengthen families and communities. Women-owned microenterprises improve the economies of whole regions. WELD builds women leaders in the communities we serve. The women who attend our programs and events are highly active in their communities. They serve on public and private boards, city/county/state boards and commissions and run for public office. They run our companies and run their children’s Parent Teacher Organizations. They prepare the next generation of leaders. These women take what they learn at WELD programs and use it for the good of their communities. ResourcesCheck out the latest resources on the community impact that investing in women has.
