Sharpening your Leadership Skills through Public Service

Join WELD for the September E-Chapter Webinar Series featuring highly respected executives from the WELD Tampa E-Chapter, CareerSource Tampa Bay and Shumaker and Shumaker Advisors.

This month’s topic, Navigating Your Career Journey: Empowering Workforce Development, aligns with this year’s theme and will explore how stepping into public service can be a powerful way to expand your leadership impact.

Wendy Byrne, Director of Communications and Client Development at Shumaker, will lead this dynamic conversation with Keidrian Kunkel, President & CEO, CareerSource Tampa Bay, Sandra “Sandy” Murman, Shumaker Advisors’ Executive Vice President and Principal Local Practice, and Shumaker Lawyer Jennie Tarr.

Keidrian is a nationally recognized leader in workforce development and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of CareerSource Tampa Bay, the unified workforce development board serving Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. With more than 15 years of experience in workforce systems, operations, and strategic planning, Keidrian is known for building results-driven teams and launching forward-thinking programs that align talent development with business needs.

Sandy, a former Hillsborough County Commissioner, and Jennie, who practiced for over 35 years in the Hillsborough County Attorney's Office and served as a Chief Assistant of the Countywide Services and Litigation Division, will share insights from their journeys to elected and appointed public roles— discussing what it takes to serve in these roles, how to get started, and why public service is a meaningful and strategic step in a leadership journey.

The discussion will unpack how civic leadership builds strategic influence, resilience, and visibility beyond the boardroom. Whether you're considering a run for office or aiming for an appointment, attendees will leave with actionable steps to begin your journey.

Join us to learn how public service can sharpen your leadership edge and open doors to new opportunities.

Shumaker will be graciously hosting a watch party at their Tampa offices. Please contact Deepa Kellar – dkellar@weldoh.org for additional information.
