Nailing Success in the Boardroom – Effective Servant Leadership on Nonprofit Boards

Join 2019 Women WELDing the Way® Calendar honoree Cheryl Perez, President, BIGHR, as she discusses Servant Leadership on Nonprofit Boards.

Servant Leadership, the philosophy and practice of approaching management as a servant first, has exploded in popularity across the business world. And for good reason: research shows that this management style builds a team’s engagement, sense of ownership, and overall morale. A Servant Leader fosters an environment that encourages personal and professional growth, promotes a sense of team unity, and sets the stage for successful achievement of goals.

With such a proven success record, the Servant Leadership philosophy has grown beyond the boundaries of the business world. These lessons—and the rich benefits to be reaped from applying them—can be applied to nonprofit organizations as well. But how?

Learn from Cheryl Perez, President of BIG-HR and an industry leader with over twenty years of expertise in business and nonprofit management and development, what practicing Servant Leadership as a nonprofit board member can bring to the organization. Cheryl is excited to share with you the philosophies, techniques, and tools that you can start using now to increase your effectiveness among your board peers and those you serve.

In this session, you’ll explore:

• What Servant Leadership really looks like...and also what it doesn’t look like

• How to apply the skills and practices of the Servant Leadership philosophy to nonprofit board service

• Examples of real-life applications of Servant Leadership, and the results that followed

• Where to start!
