Bridging the Generation Gap

Meet our 2018 Women WELDing the Way®! These women have earned their accomplishments and their seat at the table. They have learned how to own their power and influence and use them. Their stories of leadership and impact will inspire you as they have inspired the many men and women who know them.

A multi-generational workforce offers unique challenges to leaders, managers, and workgroups. This begins with distinctive world and work views that each generation brings to the table, which can cause friction in relationship development, everyday interaction, and communication. Companies that demonstrate expert ability to harness the strengths of a diverse, multi-generational workforce will thrive and excel.  Join us at the WELD Emerging Professionals’ Series for a powerful panel of women, moderated by Jeannine Gury, Certified Coach, Freshwater Coaching, discussing this important topic of Bridging the Generation Gap and strategies for success.  Our three panelists include 2018 WELD calendar honorees Alexandria Boone, President & Chief Executive Officer, GAP Communications Group; Founder, Women of Color Foundation, Katherine Brandt, Partner at Thomson Hine LLP and Kathy Sterio, Chief Marketing Officer, GE Lighting.  We encourage you to invite your work group to attend and use this event as an opportunity to share insights and build strong team relationships across all the generations.

Participants attending this session will gain insight on:

  • Leveraging intergenerational differences to build stronger teams
  • Define criteria to understand setbacks and objectively evaluate how things are and what needs to be done going forward
  • Two-directional mentoring to increase mutual respect
